We went to the Institute of Surgical Science and Picked Up Lyme Disease!

Ain't it cute? :P

Yesterday we visited the Institute of Surgical Science. We saw the history of medicine from ancient times to modern, and we learned all about the advances and pitfalls of learning medicine through the ages. Here are pics from the excursion:

Above: Trephened skull from Mexico.

Above: Early surgical instruments.

Above: Artistic depiction of trephaning.

Above: Early eye glasses.

Above: Polio curing machine.

Above: Archaeological materials-artificial cranial modification, trephanation, and pottery depicting dwarfisms and other biological anomalies.

Above: Ladies, in the Roman period, these were how Pap exams went-bronze speculums! Yikes!!!!
