First stop was the Mythic Creatures exhibit (http://www.fieldmuseum.org/exhibits/mythic_tempexhib.htm). This exhibit explored the mythos of unicorns, dragons, griffons, mermaids, etc. It was awesome. Griffons are based in dinosaurs fossils, along with several other mythical beings (dragons, cyclops, more). Highly recommended for those in the area.
Then we visited the Africa exhibit. This exhibit showcases the various countries and regions of Africa. Here are some pictures:

And then we had to stop by the Hall of Gems and Hall of Jade (hey, I was with a chick, what could I do?)





And here are some odds and ends from the museum (Sue, a reproduction of a Stelae, HOLY SHOES! The bioarch would like to add that she never wants to hear anyone complain that she has too many shoes as this is just one out of the five sections of shoes the museum has, and a interactive DNA lab):
